Kristen Spainhower Riding Instructor/Trainer

Kristen Spainhower has been consistently riding for 16 years, growing up in the 4-H & FFA programs. Kristen began showing english & western pleasure until 7 years ago when Barrel Racing & the sport of Rodeo caught her attention. Kristen has competed in both local and state level competitions; traveling through-out Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Arizona. She has also carried such titles as Miss Kitsap Fair & Stampede 2001 & Miss Teen Rodeo Washington 2002. Kristen currently participates as a flag carrier and team leader for the Thunderbird Benefit Rodeo Flag Team.

The confidence that she has built in my girls, Cori (11) and Tara (8), and their riding skills have really exceeded any of my expectations. Kristin is very patient with children and really tries to explain things so they will understand. She is always encouraging them and her famous "Good Job" can be heard with any level rider throughout the arena. She is also very patient with the horses and is totally willing to get on and "Ride" herself if a horse is starting to give someone a bad time. Kristin always looks at Safety first matching the perfect mount with its rider. Though there are challenges working with not only youth but with adults getting discouraged, Kristin never looses her cool. Her smile and outgoing attitude really goes a long way and quickly defuses any frustrations. I can see my kids taking lessons from Kristin for a very long time. After they master performance, then it's on to Gaming which is Kristin's specialty. Then after that, there's always Drill Team. Keep it up Kristin your doing a GREAT job!! When we go to shows, Miss Kristen always helps me with my diagonals and I get good ribbons. She helps me groom and is very sweet and always takes care of the horses. Miss Kristen is one of the best horseback riding teachers. Fiona Volks Kristen is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, positive and kind instructor. She is terrific with children, and always uses constructive criticism to encourage her students to improve their abilities. Her teaching allows for some fun and riding never becomes a chore. Because she has been riding all of her life in various disciplines she can instruct almost everyone that approaches her, and her gentle demeanor puts both student and horses at ease.
